American and Japanese mayors to discuss cities' stratagies on climate change Thursday, Oct. 8

Members of Congress will face off against members of the news media in an event moderated by the Scripps National Spelling Bee at 7pm on Oct. 21, 2015. The event, sponsored by Discovery Communications, will also feature a performance by the 90s cover band sensation White Ford Bronco. National Press Club member Mehmet Saracoglu invites Club members -- journalists and communicators -- to Rumi Forum`s upcoming annual study trip to Turkey. The trip -- from Nov. 6 to Nov. 15 -- will focus on media and press freedom, democracy and human rights in Turkey and the wider region, as well as social, economic, cultural, security and political issues. The prime minister's remarks concerned the unification of Germany and what alliance a united Germany would belong to: NATO or the Warsaw Pact. The prime minster's visit was the first and probably the last visit to the White House by an East German prime minister. The Germans were scheduled to vote on a parliament as early as January 1991. Broadcast Committee gets a pre-game tour of MASN booth
The first Broadcast Committee trip to a baseball game opened with a pre-game tour of the Mid-Atlantic Sports Network (MASN) broadcast booth at Nationals Park on Saturday, Sept. 26, on a picture perfect day. Nats play-by-play host Bob Carpenter and color analyst F.P. Santangelo kindly took a break to show Club members around the booth including showing off their personal library of game stats collected over the years. Nessen recalls night of Ford's loss to Carter, Vietnam, Saturday Night Live
Ron Nessen, President Gerald Ford's White House press secretary and long-time NBC news correspondent, recalled the night of Ford's loss to former President Jimmy Carter during the Broadcast Committee's Oct. 1 monthly meeting. Nessen recalled that he was in the Oval Office on election night 1980 watching the results on TV with Ford and other senior aides.
