Former Club president's son-in-law appears in 'Moby Dick' at Arena Stage
Former National Press Club President (1984) John Fogarty's son-in-law Raymond Fox is currently appearing at Arena Stage in The Looking Glass Theater production of "Moby Dick," which is on a national tour. The Washington Post reviewer called the show "spectacular" and quoted audience members who called the performancde "intense" and "amazing." The show runs through Christmas Eve.

During a trip to London this fall, I enjoyed tea at the St. James Hotel and Club, where National Press Club members can enjoy a discount on room reservations. The current building is tucked inside a cul-du-sac a short walk from the Green Park tube station or Buckingham Palace. Did you know that every calendar year National Press Club members receive two complimentary guest passes? Each guest pass is good for up to two weeks. Club set to celebrate life of former President John Cosgrove, 12:30 pm Dec. 3
The National Press Club will honor the late John Cosgrove, a former Club president who passed away last month, on Dec. 3 from 12:30 p.m. to 2:30 with a reception for Club members and his family and friends. Cosgrove, who presented President John F. Kennedy his Club membership card, served his Club for decades and was the Club's longest surviving president. The Board of Governors renamed the newly renovated Games Room the John Cosgrove Members' Lounge in September. This event is open only to Club members and their guests. Tickets are not required, but we kindly ask that you RSVP.

Back by popular demand, the U Street Collective Jazz will entertain National Press Club members and their guests at a Holiday Buffet on Thursday, Dec. 15. Member recalls Club trip to Cuba during Fidel Castro era
The death of Fidel Castro on Nov. 25 sparked memories of the National Press Club's 2000 working journalists' trip to Cuba arranged by Frederica Dunn. The visit came at the height of the custody controversy over Elián González, a Cuban boy who survived an escape from Cuba during which his mother and most of her companions drowned when their boat sank before reaching Florida. Online balloting opens in Club election
Voting is underway in the National Press Club election. Online balloting opened on Monday and will conclude at 9 p.m. EST on Thursday, Dec. 8. Club members can vote in person at the Club’s 14th floor alcove on Election Day, Friday, Dec. 9, starting at 8 a.m. EST and ending at 7 p.m. EST. Online voting can be completed on a computer, mobile device or tablet. The instructions are outlined below. Club history snippet: When Fidel fibbed at a luncheon
1979 National Press Club President Art Wiese was one of the Club's greatest leaders and most ardent supporters. He was responsible for planning much of the reconstruction of the Club during the building renovation in the early 1980s. For years, he was a watchdog to assure that the Club maintained its tradition as a safe harbor for journalists and communicators. Practice prepared deliveries, extemporaneous speaking and giving cogent answers to spontaneous questions. You will also have a chance to critically listen and analyze others’ presentations.
