Practice yoga at the Club on April 24
Join National Press Club member and journalist Bara Vaida for a free yoga class on Tuesday, April 24, at 6 p.m. in the Cosgrove Lounge. Vaida first began practicing yoga 20 years ago as a way to manage the pressure of daily deadlines while covering Congress for National Journal. The class is free but space is limited. Tonight! Post cartoonist Tom Toles highlights Silver Owls Spring Hoot
Tom Toles, the Washington Post's Pulitzer Prize winning editorial cartoonist, will headline the National Press Club Silver Owls’ Spring Hoot at 6 p.m. Thursday, April 26, in the Ballroom. He also will sing and play with his rock band, Suspicious Package. This will be his and the band’s second appearance at a Hoot. The last time, in 2015, was a sellout, so early reservations are recommended. The hoot is open to all Club members and their guests. Tickets are $35, which includes dinner, preceded by a cash bar. Did you capture memorable images with your phone or camera: a photo of a key moment in an event, or interesting faces in unusual places? Then start saving those great images for this year's National Press Club members' photography exhibit, which will be displayed in the lobby during September. The annual photo exhibit is a celebration of visual storytelling. Images will be displayed in print or electronic form. Connie Lawn to be memorialized at Friday event
Family members, neighbors and colleagues of Connie Lawn wlll celebrate her life over coffee and cookies on Friday. The event will be held from 7:30-9 p.m. at the Mason District Government Center, 6507 Columbia Pike, Annandale, Va. For more details, click here. Lawn, a long-time reporter and a member of the National Press Club, passed away April 2 at age 73. She had Parkinson's disease. The family asks that memorial contributed be sent to either Capital Caring Hospice or Parkinson Foundation of the National Capital Area.

Professional head shots available for Club members Saturday
National Press Club members can get professional head shots from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. on Saturday. The cost is $25, and includes a breakfast of scrambled eggs, fruit, bagels and waffles and a mimosa. Saturday's Book and Brunch event features tales of escape from Nazi Germany
The Books and Brunch Group will meet at noon on Saturday in the Fourth Estate Restaurant to discuss "Alex's Wake" by Martin Goldsmith. The work is a story of two parallel journeys that were undertaken several decades apart. In 1939 Goldsmith's grandfather, Alex, and his uncle, Helmut, were among the 937 passengers aboard the ship, St. Louis, fleeing Nazi Germany. The ship's fate and that of Goldsmith's family members are traced by Goldsmith during a six-month trip following in their footsteps.
