American Legion Post 20 to hear from NPC candidates at Tuesday, Dec. 5, meeting
The National Press Club's American Legion Post 20 will hear from candidates for the Club's 2018 officer and board positions at a luncheon meeting at noon on Tuesday, Dec. 5, in the McClendon Room. The Post has invited all candidates to make brief remarks on their Club goals and priorities for next year. The candidate portion of the meeting is open to all Club members. Post 20 was founded in 1919 at the Club at the urging of famed World War I Gen. John Pershing and has been part of the Club ever since.

Attention Photography Team members: Make plans to attend this year's team holiday party, on Monday, Dec. 11, at noon in the McClendon Room. The event begins with lunch (purchase from the Reliable Source buffet), followed by our annual mini photo contest. For the contest, bring one photo print -- with no identification or other markings to give away the identity of the photographer -- for the judges to review. The National Press Club is launching a new dinner series featuring ambassadors with the first one scheduled for Wednesday, Nov. 29. Iraqi Ambassador Fareed Yasseen will be the first guest, fielding questions from Club President Jeff Ballou, at the event, sponsored by the International Correspondents and Events teams. Kudos to two Club members
Anthony Gallo's two-act play, "Luther," takes place Saturday. Nov. 18, at the Cosmos Theater, 2121 Massachusetts Ave. NW in Washington. The play celebrates the 500th anniversary of the posting of Martin Luther’s 95 theses, which led to a new church, but also looks at his call to kill Jews and peasants who rebelled at his theology.
