In the spring, a young man's -- or young woman's -- fancy turns to thoughts of softball. If this is you, we'd love to see you on the National Press Club's co-ed softball team, which made the Final Three in last year's playoffs. Join fellow Club members in playing against the Washington Post, CNN, Wall Street Journal, CBS News and other media teams in the Metropolitan Media Softball League. The only requirement is that you be a full member of the Club. Spouses are welcome as well if the member plays. The Club pays the league fee and supplies bats, balls and National Press Club T-shirts. For 133 years, a great Washington tradition known as the Gridiron Show has skewered presidents and congressional leaders, political candidates and journalists. The Gridiron Club and Foundation first regales official Washington at a white-tie dinner on Saturday night in March with satire and songs. Training on opioid crisis offered for journalists, Feb. 23
The National Press Foundation is offering a one-day workshop on Friday, Feb. 23, for journalists covering the opioids crisis. Experts will provide the latest research and projections on the use of opioids and other drugs; information on federal, state and local models that work; impact and stigma on children and families; and more.
