Local head of World Press Photo Exhibition to speak to Club Photo Team, noon Oct. 10
Robert Meins, executive director of the Lightscape Foundation, will discuss the Washington edition of the World Press Photo Exhibition at a luncheon meeting of the National Press Club Photo Team at noon Tuesday, Oct. 10, in the McClendon Room. The Photo Team meeting is open to all Club members and their guests. Lunch will be available at 12 noon at the Reliable Source buffet. The program will start at 12:30 and wrap up around 1:15. Club members can tour Library of Congress Main Reading Room, Oct. 9
Library of Congress reference librarians will provide a tour of the Main Reading Room -- including a briefing on how to conduct research and an overview of the art, architecture and history of the library -- for National Press Club members on Monday, Oct. 9. Tours will be conducted for two groups -- at 1:30 and 2 p.m. -- in Alcove 8 inside the Main Reading Room, which is located on the first floor of the Library’s Thomas Jefferson Building, 10 First Street S.E. Oswald F. Schutte served just three months as the National Press Club's fifth president in 1913, but he went on to cover World War I from the German side for the Chicago Daily News until the United States entered the war in 1917. Independent researcher/scholar James Castellan will talk about Schuette’s amazing career and share some photos of him in Germany during the war at noon Wednesday, Oct. 18 in the Cosgrove Lounge. Ten National Press Club members will have the opportunity to tour the Library of Congress Packard Campus on Oct. 9 at 11 a.m. The Club members can participate in interactive sessions in the recorded-sound listening room and view a video highlighting the Library’s work and items from the collection in the theater on the campus.
