Toastmasters meet TONIGHT at 7 p.m.
If you want to polish your public persona or test your mettle with impromptu speaking, you’ll find like-minded people doing just that at the National Pres Club Toastmasters group. We meet on the second and fourth Mondays of each month at 7 p.m. There is no charge to visit and no limit to the number of visits. Membership fees are about $130 per year. The next meeting is on Monday, May 22, at 7 p.m. in the McClendon Room.

Author to discuss early feminist writers research Thursday, May 18
National Press Club Member Janice Law invites all Club members to a noon Thursday, May 18, presentation, “Stirred, Not Shaken,” in the McClendon Room by Megan Metcalf on America’s early feminist writers. Metcalf is Women’s Studies Specialist in the historic Main Reading Room of the Library of Congress. She has also prepared an exhibit on the women’s music movement. Club membership steady, revenue on the rise
Business has been good at the National Press Club so far in 2017 with revenue on the rise and applications for membership flooding in, Club leadership said at the May 12 biannual general meeting. While there are many challenges that exist in the journalism world today, "there may never have been a better time for journalism," said Club President Jeff Ballou. Picture this: Your photos on display at National Press Club
Attention National Press Club photographers, pro and amateur alike: Mark your calendars and start reviewing your photo collections for images to hang in the Club's 18th annual Members' Photography Exhibit, on display in the 13th floor lobby during September. The exhibit -- not a contest, but a display of the club's photography talent -- is a production of the Club's Photography Team and open to all members, who may submit up to four images. Brain Facts book seeks freelance writers
The Society for Neuroscience is seeking writers for its textbook on the brain and nervous system, the Brain Facts book. This short-term project is a revision of the seventh edition of Brain Facts, a companion publication to BrainFacts.org. Writers will have prior experience accurately communicating science to a non-technical audience. Writers must be comfortable with writing on topics from across the breadth of neuroscience in a tone that is accessible to a lay reader with a curiosity for science.
