Game night returns to the Truman Lounge, June 4
The National Press Club Events Team is bringing back game night. Get competitive at the Club with other members and guests as we play a variety of games in the Truman Lounge on Tuesday, June 4th. Enjoy a drink as you play a variety of board games (including a satirical '90s curiosity Outrageous Journalists, inspired by the O.J. Simpson trial), and old-school video games (from the Atari '80s to the Sony PlayStation '90s) hooked up to the lounge’s big screen. Bring your own games if you like. This event is free. Rear Adm. Melissa Bert, Director of Governmental and Public Affairs for the U.S. Coast Guard, will be guest speaker at a luncheon meeting of the National Press Club's American Legion Post 20 at noon on Wednesday, May 29, in the McClendon Room. Membership meeting: President Fitzgerald Kodjak stresses NPC's strong finances, overall great results
National Press Club President Alison Fitzgerald Kodjak stressed the Club's “strong finances” at a General Membership Meeting held at the Club's Fourth Estate restaurant Friday, commending the Club’s overall results during the first three months of 2019. “That is really great news,” she said, adding the Club is continuing the process of implementing the physical plan to upgrade facilities as well as attracting new members, some of whom are recognized leaders in journalism nationwide. Indie authors gained publishing insights at May 9 meeting
National Press Club members who publish their books independently learned about the fine points of “hybrid” publishing at their May 9 gathering. Mascot Books CEO Naren Aryal joined the conversation to explain the concept. Hybrid is an outgrowth of the much-maligned “vanity” publishing. In both cases, authors pay the publisher to produce and market their books. New menu items are enhancing the experience at the National Press Club's Reliable Source pub. They begin with lunch dishes at the hot buffet and salad bar, prepared fresh daily by Executive Chef Susan Delbert and her staff.
