Author talks about book profiling American historical figures at American Legion Post 20 meeting today
Author Jennifer London will be the featured speaker at the next meeting of American Legion Post 20, the National Press Club's affiliated post. An interior moral compass guided some of America's most important leaders. That's the lesson found in "Profiles in Character: Sixteen Americans and the Traits that Defined Them." Club American Legion Post 20 has visit to Cold War Museum in Va. in June before taking summer break
Having met May 8, the National Press Club American Legion Post 20 will now take a break from its monthly lunch-time meetings at the Club for the summer, and hold its next meeting in September. But there will be a field trip on Friday, June 21, to Vint Hill, Virginia, near Warrenton, to tour the Cold War Museum at noon and later take in a wine tasting nearby, which will include a presentation on the history of Vint Hill Farms Station, a military listening post from World War II through the Cold War. Club Photography Team plans to learn congressional media gallery history today
The National Press Club's Photography Team plans to hear from the U.S. Senate historian at its next meeting, Wednesday, May 22, at noon in the Cosgrove Lounge. The event is free and open to NPC members, but reservations in advance are required. Katherine Scott, Ph.D., the Senate's historian, is expected to tell how the photography and other media galleries began and evolved.
