Deanna McCray-James Deanna McCray-James, senior advisor at the Library of Congress, will lead a discussion of Juneteenth, the nation's newest federal holiday commemorating the emancipation of enslaved African-Americans, today (June 23), in the Cosgrove Lounge at 6 p.m. The discussion is hosted by the Events Team as part of its "Cocktails and Conversations" series. Crab fest, karaoke, trivia will keep Reliable Source jumping in July
It’ll be another busy month in July at the Reliable Source restaurant. The Club’s annual crab fest. karaoke and Pub Quiz trivia -- all are on the schedule at the Club’s popular watering hole as it announces its July special events. The events supplement the restaurant’s traditional Taco Night every Friday -- and, of course, its usual offerings of fine food, drink and conviviality. The restaurant is open to Club members and their guests for lunch Monday through Friday and dinner Wednesday through Friday. Carryout service is available five days a week. Bloomberg covers news in more than 100 countries, with real-time information on markets, economies, politics and more. NPC Scholarship Team seeks judges for Fall 2023 Lewis Scholarship applicants
The National Press Club's Scholarships Team is recruiting volunteers to help judge applications for the Fall 2023 Lewis Scholarship. Judging will be conducted virtually via Zoom over a two-hour period the morning of Saturday, July 29. Judges will review application materials the week prior to the July 29 meeting, then rank candidates as a group that day. The Lewis Scholarship, which launched in 2023, provides free housing and a monthly stipend to support student journalists of color who plan to intern at news media outlets in Washington, D.C. — an estimated value of $10,000.
