Two Club members to be inducted into D.C. journalism hall of fame
Two National Press Club members -- veteran White House correspondent April Ryan and former Club President Jonathan D. Salant -- will be inducted into the Society of Professional Journalists Washington, D.C. chapter's Journalism Hall of Fame on June 13. April Ryan They will join WJLA-TV Bureau Chief Sam Ford as honorees. The event will be held at the Club with cocktails beginning at 6 p.m. and dinner at 7. Free hostile-environment training for journalists, May 5
The James W. Foley Legacy Foundation will cover the cost for 10 journalists to participate in a training program for reporters covering protests and riots from 9:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. Friday, May 5, at the National Press Club. This one-day Head Set course on safety, medical and resilience training (SMART) is designed by journalists for journalists. International Correspondents committee visits Taiwan cultural center
Members of the Taiwan Symphony Orchestra played for guests at the Taiwan cultural center. Forty journalists from the National Press Club International Correspondents Committee joined 60 other guests at historic Twin Oaks estate in D.C. April 18. They were invited by the Taipei Economic and Cultural Representative Office in the U.S. in celebration of the first appearance by the National Taiwan Symphony Orchestra at the Kennedy Center, scheduled for April 19.
