The National Press Club will hold a General Membership Meeting for all Club members at noon Friday, Oct. 21, in the conference rooms. The meeting will not be streamed live, so please plan accordingly. For those who cannot attend in person, a recap will be included in next edition of The Wire. Club membership seeks to boost monthly dues increase to $2
National Press Club President Jen Judson came to the Club’s General Membership Meeting Friday, Oct. 21, with a proposal for a $1 per month dues increase. She left with a bigger hike to take back to the Club board of governors. The members in attendance voted in favor of a $2 per month increase after several people backed a stronger show of support for the Club. There was no quorum at the meeting, which means the higher increase was a “sense of the membership” action. Judson will now present two options to the board. National Press Club member Tom Dunkel's new book, "White Knights in the Black Orchestra," was published Oct. 11 by Hachette. It is narrative nonfiction about a small group of conspirators trying to destroy Adolf Hitler and his Nazi government from within. Ready to run? Club elections candidate nominations deadline is Nov. 4
Nominations are being accepted through Friday, Nov. 4, for National Press Club offices and seats on the Board of Governors. The five officer positions, restricted to Journalist members, are president, vice president, treasurer, secretary and membership secretary. Three full three-year terms on the Board of Governors for Journalist members are open. A one-year Journalist governor term is open, the last remaining year in an unexpired term.
