Club member artist, poet to discuss their book on Metro riders, Aug. 17
National Press Club member Carol Morgan, along with local poet Gerry Hendershot, has published a book, "METRO Anthology," which features 12 pen and ink drawings of Washington Metro riders by her accompanied by 12 poems by Hendershot. The poems give the thoughts and concerns of persons riding Metro buses and trains, based on the expressions captured in the sketches. In January 2020, Morgan's opinion piece, "What I see when I draw on Metro," was published in the Washington Post. Washington usually shuts down for August. Not the Reliable Source.
While the president and Congress flee Washington during August, the National Press Club's Reliable Source restaurant remains open for lunch weekdays from 11:30 a.m. to 3 p.m. Menu items include salmon, New York steak, burgers, salads and crab cakes. To view the menu, click here. Dinner will be served from 4:30-8 p.m. on Thursdays and Fridays. Exercise in air-conditioned comfort in the Club's gym
You know the Press Club offers you working space and weekday lunch service plus dinner service on Thursdays and Fridays. Don't forget it also offers a gym with locker rooms and showers, open five days a week. Fitness center hours are 8 a.m. to 7 p.m. Monday through Friday. There is no professional trainer staffing the facility, so it is unattended. A year ago, a Peloton bike was added to the first-rate equipment in the 14th-floor center.

A reception for the National Press Club's 23rd annual members photography exhibit is scheduled from 6:30-8 p.m. on Wednesday, Sept. 7, in the First Amendment Lounge. The reception will feature many of the photographers whose work will be displayed at the Club during the month of September. The event is free, but RSVPs are recommended. Sauteed chicken will be on the menu at Taco Night this Friday in the Reliable Source. There will be two kinds of chicken, taco spiced and plain. Voice of America's chief national correspondent, Steve Herman, will be the guest speaker at the National Press Club American Legion Post 20 meeting at noon Thursday, Sept. 8, in the McClendon Room. Club marks 50th anniversary of women as members Sept. 16 at Fall Hoot
The National Press Club’s Silver Owls will mark the celebrate the 50th anniversary of the Club admitting women as members at their Fall Hoot Sept. 16. While the 50th anniversary was last year, this is the first Hoot since the coronavirus pandemic. Vivian Vahlberg, who in 1982 became the Club's first female president , will talk about her experiences both as president and as a reporter for The Daily Oklahoman.
