Help us pick the winner for the Richard G. Zimmerman Scholarship! We plan to judge applications on Saturday, July 9 at 10:30am ET via Zoom. Judging is expected to take two hours. It is anticipated that judges will have the chance to review application materials prior to July 9th. The Richard G. Zimmerman Scholarship is named for a long-time National Press Club member who died in 2008 and endowed a scholarship to aid high school seniors who wish to pursue a career in journalism. After winning one game outright and winning a second by forfeit, the National Press Club's Big Blue co-ed softball team on June 25 earned a #6 seed in the Metropolitan Media Softball League championship round July 9-10 at Cabin John Regional Park in Bethesda. Club launches Membership Enrichment Team
Whether you've been a member of the National Press Club for one year or 20, the newest team here at the Club, the Membership Enrichment Team, is looking for members! Katie Byrnes, an editorial support executive at The Associated Press, will co-chair the Membership Engagement Team. The National Press Club's Big Blue co-ed softball team played three games Saturday, July 16, in its playoffs appearance in the Metropolitan Media Softball League championship series. Losing that third game, to the overall #1 tournament seed, which avoided having to play a game during the first time slot in the schedule, meant the end of the team's run for the 2022 season. Library in Club is open; Bloomberg terminal now operating
Don't forget that the Eric Friedheim National Journalism Library is open for members of the National Press Club and their guests, with doors unlocked during the hours when the Club is open. Since the library reopened June 1, the Bloomberg terminal has been returned to operation as well. The library can be used for freelance work and research on the available computers. In addition to the Bloomberg terminal, members have access to other databases and materials available in the library. Instructions for using the Bloomberg terminal are posted.
