Annual Club Children's Holiday Party will not be held this year
Several National Press Club members have asked about the annual Children's Holiday Party at the Club. Here is a statement from NPC President Lisa Nicole Matthews about the holidays at the Club: “Out of an abundance of caution the Club has decided to cancel this year’s Children’s Holiday Party. On Nov. 2, the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention recommended the pediatric COVID-19 vaccine for children 5 to 11 years old. Voting in Club election ends Friday, Dec. 10, at 4 p.m. (online) and 7 p.m. (at Club)
Voting in the National Press Club election is approaching the finale. Eligible Club members can cast ballots online for 2022 officers and board members until 4 p.m. Friday, Dec. 10. Members can vote in-person at the Club on Dec. 10 from 4 until 7 p.m., when the election concludes. Candidate statements and instructions on how to vote online can be found on the Club website. Members must be logged in to view the statements and to vote. Instructions for logging into the eBallot portal were also sent via email on Monday, Nov. 22. Come to Club tonight to toast newly elected board, officers
Online voting for 2022 National Press Club officers and members of the board of governors will end Friday, Dec. 10, at 4 p.m. Club members who want to be at the Club to vote in person may do so from 4 p.m. until 7 p.m. Then stick around, because shortly after the polls close, we'll have all the election results, and toast the winners in the Reliable Source Bar & Grill. Corrected election error means one less member elected to Club Board of Governors
The National Press Club miscalculated the number of Board of Governors seats that were up for grabs in last week's election, and therefore one of the candidates previously announced as having been elected to the board did not end up securing a seat. There were only three three-year terms available, rather than the four originally indicated. Incomplete records were to blame for the mix-up. The top three vote-getters for the Journalist seats -- Herb Jackson, Tara Copp and Alisa Parenti -- were elected to the three-year terms. Last chance to visit Club library on a Friday in December, see two new exhibits there
The Eric Friedheim National Journalism Library will be open on Fridays in December for members of the National Press Club and guests, following the same safety protocols as the National Press Club. The library will be open from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. on Dec. 3, Dec. 10, and Dec. 17, and will be closed on Friday, Dec. 24, and Friday, Dec. 31, for Christmas Eve and New Year’s Eve, when the Club is closed. Club member Madsen compares ‘Trumpism’ with Nazism at virtual event
On the first anniversary of the Capitol insurrection, Jan. 6, National Press Club member, Wayne Madsen, discussed his latest book, The Rise of the Fourth Fascist Reich, the Era of Trumpism and the Far Right, at a virtual event sponsored by the Club's Member-Author Group. Madsen said he had two inspirations for writing the book.
