Hear live jazz from Blues Alley at the Club
Members may enjoy Blues Alley’s legendary jazz programing this Monday, June 21, in the ballroom of the National Press Club, at 8 p.m. Purchase tickets here. There will be drinks and lite fare available for purchase at the event. Blues Alley has been offering streaming-only concerts from the Club during the pandemic. Monday’s program is the first Blues Alley event before a live audience, which is possible now that pandemic restrictions have lifted. Here is a chance to hear great jazz at the Club.

History team holds historic meeting

The National Press Club co-ed softball team heads into the second weekend of the 2021 Metropolitan Media Softball League season with a 1-1 record. Gadfly journalist Sarah McClendon, the Navy's little-known submarine rescue capability, and a hero of the Battle of Midway will be discussed at a virtual meeting of the National Press Club's American Legion Post 20 on Thursday, June 24, at 7 p.m. Short presentations will be made by the following Post 20 members: Post Historian Easter Thompson will discuss the life and times of Sarah McClendon, after whom the Club's McClendon Room -- Post 20's meeting place -- is named. The National Press Club Scholarship Awards Team needs your help! We will be judging applicants for the 2021 Julie Schoo Award for Diversity in Journalism on Saturday, June 26. The NPC's scholarship awards have been life-changing for past recipients, and you can contribute to that experience by helping review these entries. Club members' photo exhibit returns in September
The National Press Club will hold its 22nd annual members photography exhibit in September, returning the celebration of visual storytelling to the Club's main lobby. The annual show, conducted by Club's Photography Team, displays members' best photos in print and electronic form. The exhibit features print photos posted on fabric panels in the Club's main lobby, with big-screen monitors showing electronic images in continuous slide shows, from Aug. 31 through Sept. 30. The resumption of the National Press Club's in-person Pub Quiz on Thursday, July 8, drew small numbers, but generated big laughs and considerable fun. During Thursday's 90-minute event, as he's known to do, longtime host Marc Wojno posed questions that made us smile ... and think. He included some questions about Australia.
