New Member Orientation will be offered next week for all new and existing members. Members have the choice to attend one of two sessions: lunch session from noon to 1:30 p.m. or a Happy Hour session from 5:30 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. on Wednesday, May 15, in the Reliable Source. Club Member Meeting Report: Membership, Reserves Growing
On a day when all major U.S. stock market averages punched through to new highs, National Press Club officers reported the Club was doing well financially but said they continued to worry about an unstable economy. Membership Secretary Marc Wojno reported 107 persons have applied for membership thus far this year, up from 79 last year. There's been a steady growth in the spouse and nonresident categories, and we have added members from The Washington Post, CNN, Fox News and NBC among other outlets. Head table seat available for Chris Evert luncheon, May 7
One seat is available for a NPC member who would like to sit at the head table for the sold out luncheon featuring tennis great Chris Evert on Tuesday, May 7. Members who are interested should email [email protected] to request the seat. If you are selected for the seat, you will be asked to submit at least two questions for the speaker by May 4. NPC Softball: How sweep it is!
The National Press Club softball team rolled through a key divisional double header, beating National Journal 18-6 in five innings and Bloomberg 9-4. The Press Club now has a 3-1 record, 2-0 in the Wheaton Forest Division. In recent years, National Journal has played the Club very close. We've beaten them four times in a row, but always by a single run. This time, we came out on fire.
