Benghazi critic to address Club's American Legion Post 20, noon July 18
Lt. Gen. William Boykin (retired), former U.S. deputy under secretary of defense for intelligence, will address the National Press Club American Legion Post 20 at noon Thursday, July 18, in the McClendon Room. Boykin has been a critic of the Obama administration's handling of the Benghazi affair and will discuss that issue beginning at 12:15 p.m. The speaker portion of Post meetings are open to all Club members on a space-available basis. Regular Post business will follow Boykin's address.

NPC 5K Committee seeks volunteers, meets 6:30 pm July 16
The National Press Club Beat the Deadline 5K Committee is looking for volunteers to help on race day, which will take place on Saturday, Sept. 7. All volunteers will receive a commemorative t-shirt and entrance to the post-race pancake breakfast. The 5K Committee will meet at 6:30 p.m. Tuesday, July 16. All Club members are invited to attend. It's a great way to meet other members and have a hand in raising funds for our organization. New Member Orientation will be offered for all new and existing National Press Club members on July 16 in the Reliable Source. Orientation is open to any member who would like to learn more about their membership benefits and opportunities at the Club. Scholarship Committee seeks judges for July 13
The Scholarship Committee needs your help! We will be judging for the Feldman and Zimmerman awards at the National Press Club this Saturday, July 13, starting at 9 a.m. The judging will wrap up around 3 p.m., but we most need judges from 9 a.m. until 10:30 a.m., if you'd like to help but can't for the full day. The Dennis and Shirley Feldman Fellowship is a $5,000 award for graduate studies in journalism. The Richard G. Zimmerman Scholarship is $5,000 to help an incoming college freshman pursue journalism.
