Press Club members invited to Helen Thomas memorial Oct. 5 at NPC
The family of Helen Thomas has invited members of the National Press Club to a memorial service for Helen on Saturday, Oct. 5, at 11 a.m. at the Club. The family is honoring Helen's wishes to be cremated and buried in Detroit. Her funeral was to take place there on Thursday, Aug. 15.

C-SPAN offers training to club members on using its video library
C-SPAN's video library contains more than 200,000 hours of political programming, including tapes of numerous National Press Club luncheons, and the cable network is holding a training session to show journalists how to access the archives. The program is scheduled to run from 8:45 am to 10 am on Wed., Aug. 21. An optional tour of the C-SPAN studios will follow. Attendees will learn how to search the archives, and find and share clips. Help defray NPC 5K security costs
One of the most amazing events at the National Press Club, our 5K race, is just around the corner on Saturday, Sept. 7. It's a fundraiser for the National Press Club Journalism Institute. It takes a lot of people and a lot of money to put on a race like this. Let’s talk about the money first. The biggest single cost to putting on a road race in this part of town is the police footprint needed to secure the route and redirect traffic. Last call for members' exhibit photos: Aug. 16 deadline
Photos are due by COB Friday, Aug. 16, for the 14th Annual NPC Members' Photography Exhibition. Entries may be dropped off in the Club's Membership Office. Each member may submit up to four photos. The exhibit, sponsored by the Club's Photography Committee, is open to all Club members and is not juried. Photos will be hung on Aug. 28, and will be on display until Sept. 30. New member orientation coming up at the Club, Aug. 13
New Member Orientation will be offered for all new and existing members on Aug. 13th in the Reliable Source restaurant and bar on the 14th floor. Orientation is open to any member who would like to learn more about his or her membership benefits and opportunities at the club. Learn how to access your membership profile, use the membership directory and join a committee.
