The second National Press Club general membership meeting of the year will be held via webcast at noon on Thursday, May 20. Be sure to register in advance. The past year has proven to be a challenging time for the National Press Club -- for our staffers and for our members. Despite the ravages of COVID-19, there have been glimmers of hope and resilience in our midst. President's COVID-19 Update: Gym reopens, with limits
Following is a COVID-19 update from National Press Club President Lisa Nicole Matthews: Fellow Club Members, We continue to follow COVID 19 safety protocols as outlined by the DC government. The latest update from the city allows the Club gym to reopen this week, on Friday, May 8, with new health and safety protocols. Members wanting to use the gym must make a reservation on a first-come, first-served basis. NPC staff will confirm availability. Club member Erickson Blakney invites National Press Club members to join a virtual screening of a new documentary, "Why Does Zip Code Matter," presented by the Fair Housing Center, tonight, April 29, on Facebook and YouTube from 6 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. Blakney, a filmmaker, journalist and philanthropy professional, produced the film. This year the United Nations' “International Jazz Day” on Friday, April 30, is being produced by National Press Club member Harry Schnipper, executive director of the longtime Washington, D.C., jazz venue, Blues Alley.
