Mentors now available from NPC indie authors group
Members of the National Press Club independent authors group are available to serve as mentors for other Club members who are exploring publishing options for their own books. The mentors can offer guidance on topics ranging from marketing and promoting books to the business aspects of running a publishing house, and anything in between. Independent authors face a set of unique challenges, among them deciding on publication options, managing the marketing of their work, and securing copy editors and designers. National Press Club House and Bar Team meets Monday, Oct. 21, in Cosgrove Lounge
The National Press Club's House and Bar Team plans to meet Monday, Oct. 21, at noon in the John Cosgrove Memorial Lounge. The House Team is recruiting new members with the goal of adding a representative from every other Club committee to broaden our input from members. Our mission is to make recommendations to the Club president on the Club's physical facilities and ambiance, menu and drink selections, and the House Rules. National Press Club members and their guests are invited to attend the Annual Book Fair and Author Night Roast Beef Buffet on Friday, Nov. 1. There will be no Taco Night due to the buffet. The buffet opens at 5:30 p.m. in the Reliable Source. Stop in for a hearty meal either before or after you visit the National Journalism Institute's popular pre-holiday book fair. Nov. 19 reception celebrates American Legion Post 20 centennial
National Press Club members, especially veterans, and spouses/guests, are invited to a reception on Tuesday, Nov. 19, from 6 to 8 p.m. to celebrate the 100th anniversary of the founding of American Legion Post 20. The post has been affiliated with the Club since its inception. Registration for the event can be made here. Post 20 has an illustrious pedigree. Club member's play staged at Kennedy Center
National Press Club member Anthony Gallo’s two-act play, "The Eaton Woman” was staged at the Kennedy Center's Page-to-Stage Festival, marking his 14th consecutive yearly performance at the festival. The Eaton Woman, largely based on newspaper accounts of that period, is all about morals, adultery, lies, deception, women’s roles in Washington society, the quasi-downfall of President Andrew Jackson's administration, and the most beautiful woman in Washington history. Lace up, join Press Club's 5K team for James W, Foley Freedom Run on Oct. 20
The National Press Club is looking for runners and walkers to join the Club's team for the fifth annual James W. Foley Freedom Run in Washington. The event raises both awareness and funding for journalists' safety, including education and advocacy efforts. The 5K Run/Walk begins at 10 a.m. on Sunday, Oct. 20, in Rock Creek Park Grove 1.
