Online voting for National Press Club officers and board members ends today, Dec. 11, at 5 p.m. Paper ballots will be available at the Club tomorrow on Election Day from 8 a.m. to 7 p.m. Members can log in and click here to read candidate statements and to vote. A step-by-step guide to online voting is available here. The fourth update of “You Wake Me Each Morning,” a book by National Press Club member Connie Lawn, the senior White House correspondent, has been published. Called “You Wake Me Each Morning – The Final Edition,” the book recounts her career at a White House reporter since 1968 and the struggles of her one woman news bureau, Audio Visual News. She terms the book a guide to the rigors of independent journalism. Board passes new language on alcohol service policy at bar
National Press Club waiters and bartenders will soon begin asking everyone who is served a drink at the Club for their ID under a resolution approved by the Board of Governors at its November meeting. Also, persons under age 21 won't be allowed in the Reliable Source bar when it is open unless they are accompanied by a member who is over age 21. The new policies will be phased in during December and will take effect in January. Members will see signs in the Reliable Source stating the policies.
