Former member Lillian Brown celebrates her 100th birthday Friday, and she still has stories to tell. As a make-up artist for CBS News, Brown, a member until 2010, was the last stop for many top newsmakers before they went before the cameras. She did the makeup for nine U.S. presidents from Dwight Eisenhower to Bill Clinton, and she did the makeup before the second presidential debate in Washington between Vice President Richard M. Did you know that members can reserve specific space without paying room rental? The McClendon Room, the Games Room and the Mezzanine of the Reliable Source are available to members as an exceptional venue for meetings, cocktail parties and other special occasions. Did you know that NPC members can join the State Department Federal Credit Union? Any member can open an account with the credit union, which features lifetime memberships with only a $1 deposit. Send in your best shots for NPC members’ photo exhibit, entries due Aug. 4-15
The deadline is fast approaching for members to submit their best shots for the 15th Annual NPC Members’ Photo Exhibit. Photos are due in the Club’s Membership Office, beginning Monday, Aug. 4. The last day to submit photos is COB Friday, Aug. 15. Each member may submit up to four photos. Each photo may not exceed 11 x 14” (print and mat), and all photos must be securely mounted and matted. The exhibit, sponsored by the Club's Photography Committee, is open to all Club members and is not juried. Member Johnstone's fictional reporter uncovers secrets in fifth novel
Bill Johnstone, National Press Club member, has launched his fifth novel, Pointed Inwards, another in the series featuring fictional D.C.-based investigative journalist Mike McCabe. Club member offers invitation to a study trip to Turkey in mid-November
Member Mehmet Saracoglu invites National Press Club members (journalists and communicators) to Rumi Forum's upcoming study trip to Turkey from Nov. 14, 2014 (leaving DC) to Nov. 23 (returning to DC). The trip's mission is to allow visitors to find out more about the media and press freedom, democracy and human rights in Turkey and the wider region, in addition to social, economic, cultural, security and political issues.
