Free tickets available for "Memphis" at Warner Theater this weekend
The Warner Theater is offering complimentary tickets to members for this weekend’s performances of “Memphis, The Musical.” Tickets are available for the 8 p.m. show on Friday, May 1, and the 2 p.m. and 8 p.m. shows on Saturday, May 2. Brian Lamb, a Club member, Fourth Estate Award winner and creator of C-SPAN, the Cable Satellite Public Affairs Network, will headline the Broadcast Committee's second Legends Dinner on Tuesday, May 12, in the Winners Room of the Fourth Estate restaurant. Judges needed for NPC Newsletter Journalism contest
The National Press Club needs some judges for the Newsletter Journalism Award in the Club’s annual journalism contest. The judging will be done during the month of May and a winning nominee chosen by the panel, often at a lunch at the Club, by the end of that month. A background in newsletter journalism is a big plus, and any judges need to have experience in journalism, even if they’re now working as communicators. A reminder to keep the lens cap on and your cell-phone camera off on the 14th floor
A reminder that picture-taking is prohibited on the 14th floor, which is reserved for Club members and guests. “It wasn’t long ago that you needed a dedicated camera to shoot a photo,” NPC President John Hughes said. “Now we all walk around with digital devices that take pictures. Don’t risk the embarrassment of being approached by a staff member or board member if you start to snap away upstairs.” You can take all the pictures you want on the 13th floor, but not one flight above. Even selfies are prohibited.
