Barbecue and jazz scheduled for Reliable Source June 25
Club members and their guests are invited to attend a summer barbecue buffet, accompanied by music from the Greater U Street Jazz Collective. These professionals played jazz here at the Club, and are being brought back by member request to perform in the Reliable Source/Truman Lounge on Thursday, June 25, beginning at 6:30 p.m. The price of the buffet is $25 for Club members and $35 for nonmembers. Club members can attend newswomen's dinner with Norah O’Donnell at special price
National Press Club members will receive a special rate to attend the American News Women's Club reception and dinner to raise money to fund scholarships for aspiring journalists. Norah O'Donnell of CBS News and some special guests will headline the evening. Club members can attend for the special rate of $195. Reception tonight to highlight Travel Committee trip to India and Bhutan
The Travel Committee will hold a reception tonight begining at 7 p.m. to offer details about the Club's upcoming trip to India and Bhutan scheduled for Nov. 8–22. Wendy Clayton, an associate of &Beyond Asia, the tour company operating the trip, will discuss the itinerary and then answer questions. Refreshments will be served. Patricia Fenton, government information specialist, was 52-year Club member
Patricia Fenton, a 52-year member of the National Press Club, died March 27 at The Devon Senior Living in Devon, Pa. She was 93. A long-time resident was Washington, D.C., Fenton started her writing career at 17 while in Brattleboro (Vt.) High School as a stringer for the Springfield (Mass.) Republican. She served in the U.S. Navy with the WAVES during World War II and worked as a public information specialist with the U.S. Department of Labor and the President's Committee on Employment of the Handicapped. Her writing and editing career included working for Better Homes and Gardens magazine…

Take a songwriting class with musician John Eaton in May
Renowned musician, humorist and long-time friend of the National Press Club John Eaton returns to teach his very popular American Songwriters series at the Friendship Heights Village Center this month. Classes are Wednesdays from 1 to 2:30 p.m., beginning May 20. Composers studied are Harry Warren, Richard Rodgers, Vernon Duke, Kurt Weill and George Gershwin.
