Time is running out to register for gathering at Club on July 4
If you want to watch the famous D.C. fireworks, cool off and enjoy drinks and snacks in the air-conditioned comfort of the Club with family and friends on July 4, you need to reserve now. The Club will be officially closed for the holiday. But members and their guests who reserve by noon on Monday, July 2, can gain admittance to the low-key gathering in the First Amendment Lounge, where the great views of downtown D.C. are bonus. Did you know? Club hosts monthly trivia night; next Pub Quiz is July 12
Did you know that, as one of its member benefits, the National Press Club hosts a monthly trivia night? It's always fun and well-attended. The next edition of Pub Quiz is scheduled on Thursday, July 12. The competition is held in the Truman Lounge and starts at 6:30 pm. Reservations are unnecessary. Bring your own team or show up and join one. Prizes for each round of questioning include complimentary appetizers. The grand prize of the evening is a gift certificate to the Fourth Estate restaurant. Pub Quiz is an exclusive event open only to Club members and their guests.

Tickets on sale for Fourth Estate Award dinner honoring Woodward
Tickets are on sale for the Sept. 21 Fourth Estate Award dinner honoring Washington Post investigative reporter and author Bob Woodward. Through Sept. 14, National Press Club members may buy two tickets (one for themselves, one for a guest) for $125 apiece. Non-member tickets are $200 apiece. For tickets, click here. Grab your camera, take some great photos that will impress your family, friends, colleagues and Club visitors -- and then enter them in the 13th Annual NPC Members' Photography Exhibition. National Press Club luncheons feature an outstanding array of speakers, including such upcoming ones as Jim Rogers, CEO of Duke Energy (July 16); Gen. James Amos, commandant of the U.S. Marine Corps (Aug. 28); and actress Kathleen Turner (Sept. 6). Dalecki elected commander of NPC's American Legion Post
The National Press Club's American Legion Post 20 elected Kenneth Dalecki as its new commander on June 21. He succeeds John Hurley, who held the post for five years. Dalecki, a former member of the NPC Board of Governors and a 28-year member of the Club, served two years of active duty as a Navy photojournalist in Southeast Asia during the Vietnam War. Post 20, founded at the NPC in 1919,is one of the earliest Posts in the Legion. Dalecki's election was preceded by a memorial luncheon in honor of long-time NPC member Kenneth D. Response by National Press Club members to the Embassy Night at the Kazakhstan embassy on on Tuesday, June 26, has been brisk, but the embassy has said it can accommodate additional NPC members.
