Club member recognized in Alexandria art competition
National Press Club member Carol Morgan won honorable mention in the Art League of Alexandria's April show for her watercolor figure painting "Bart." She was honored at the opening on April 14 at the Art League Gallery. Hers was one of 88 pieces selected among 400 entrants for the all media show.

Last call for Club trip to China, Silk Road and Tibet
The National Press Club trip to China, the Silk Road and Tibet from June 30-July 15 is about to close out to additional travelers. The two-week journey features a week along the Silk Road, three nights in Lhasa, Tibet, and time in Beijing, Xian and Shanghai. Book club to discuss "Noah's Compass," noon May 21
The National Press Club's Books and Brunch will explore "Noah's Compass" by Anne Tyler at noon Saturday, May 21, in the Fourth Estate Restaurant. At the same time and in the same location on June 18, Books and Brunch will discuss "The Bookseller of Kabul" by Asne Seierstad. Books and Brunch normally meets at noon on the third Saturday of each month in the Fourth Estate. Discussions are open to all Club members and their guests. Club sponsors trip to Maryland wine country, May 7; $30
The National Press Club will sponsor a trip along the Frederick, Maryland, Wine Trail on May 7. The bus journey will include tastings at the Loew, Linganore, Elk Run, and Black Ankle Vineyards. The bus will pick up members at the Club at 9:30 a.m. and return around 7:30 p.m. The cost of the EventBrite ticket, which only includes the bus fare, is $30 for Club members, $35 for non-members. Annual Members' photo exhibit set for September
It's time to start shooting those great photos for the 12th Annual National Press Club Members' Photography Exhibition, slated to run during the entire month of September in the Club lobby. The exhibition, sponsored by the Photography Committee, is open to all Club members, who may submit up to four of their best shots. Each photo may not exceed 11" x 14," and prints must be securely mounted and matted. Photos are due at the Club between Aug. 8 and 19. Complete exhibition rules will be published in the coming weeks.
