Club members mixed, mingled and swapped business cards at the second "Meet the Press Club" evening on Wednesday, July 13 in the McClendon Room. The informal gatherings foster congeniality, National Press Club President Mark Hamrick said. All members are welcome and he particularly encourages those members who may not be regular participants in Club committees to drop by, he said. Softball team hits it out of the park in awesome season
The National Press Club softball team capped off its best season ever by competing in the MMSL post-season tournament. After beating a team from the National Journal in walk-off fashion, the third-seeded Press Club lost to Comcast Sports Net and USA Today, who were the top two seeds in the tournament. Each loss was by just three runs. During the tournament, Press Club member Ken Giglio was given the 2011 Dale Solly Award. Sinise luncheon audio now available
The "From the National Press Club" radio program featuring the June 30 luncheon speech by actor Gary Sinise is now available on the Club's Web site at http://press.org/news-multimedia/audio/gary-sinise It also is available on iTunes for free download in the podcast section. Sinise announced the formation of the Gary Sinise Foundation to give aid, comfort and recognition to disabled war veterans and first responders and their families.

Submit photos for Club exhibit by Aug. 19
Entries are due by Friday, Aug. 19, for the 12th Annual National Press Club Members' Photography Exhibition. Photos may be dropped off in the Club Membership Office beginning Monday, Aug. 8. Each member may submit up to four photos. The exhibit, sponsored by the Club's Photography Committee, is open to all Club members and is not juried. Photos will be on display in the Club's lobby through September. A reception honoring the photographers will be held on Thursday, Sept. 1, from 6 to 8 p.m. in the Club lobby and Library classroom. Club lease remains unchanged after National Press Building sale
Affiliates of AEW Capital Management L.P. and Quadrangle Development Corp. bought the National Press Building this week for $167.5 million from the previous owner, Quadrangle. The new ownership structure should have little impact on tenants in the building, including the National Press Club, because Quadrangle will continue to manage the property. There will be no change to the Club lease. Club Executive Director Bill McCarren has met with representatives of AEW and Quadrangle in recent weeks to discuss the transaction and the new ownership arrangement. Discount tickets available to Budapest orchestra performance at Kennedy Center
National Press Club members and their guests can obtain special discounted tickets en bloc to the Kennedy Center performance of the world-renowned Budapest Festival Orchestra for a performance at 8 p.m. Wednesday, Oct. 26.
