The National Press Club Travel Committee will hold a reception at 7 p.m. Monday, Nov. 14, to review upcoming trips for members, their families and friends. Presentations will be made on scheduled 2012 trips to Panama over the Martin Luther King, Jr., weekend, to Morocco in March, to the Baltics in May, and to London and Scotland in July. Catch 'Captain America' at Dinner and Movie Night, 7 pm Nov. 17
Dinner and a Movie Night will feature the blockbuster "Captain America" at 7 p.m. Thursday, Nov. 17, in the McClendon Room. "Captain America," starring Chris Evans, Tommy Lee Jones and Hugo Weaving, depicts its hero as the ultimate weapon against evil during World War II. The globe's greatest warrior takes on the nefarious hydra organization, led by the villainous Red Skull. Dinner and drinks will be available for purchase from the Reliable Source. A new book by National Press Club member Arthur E. Rowse, "Amglish, in Like, Ten Easy Lessons: A Celebration of the New World Lingo," was published this week by Rowman & Littlefield. The tongue-in-cheek book about language, which includes many humorous drawings, has been accepted for the Club Book Fair on Nov. 15. Previously, Rowse wrote "Drive-By Journalism: The Assault on Your Need to Know," which was published in 2000 by Common Courage Press.
