Despite Significant Loss in August, Club Beats Forecast
The Club had a substantial loss in August of $308,000, as expected, but still reported progress in its goal of improving results for the traditionally slowest month of the year. It had record revenue for the month of $533,000, an increase of nearly $100,000 over last year. At the same time, costs increased by just $19,000 over the same period despite the significant growth in revenue. The Travel Committee will hold a reception at 7 p.m. Wednesday, Sept. 15, to describe the trips planned for the remainder of 2010 and for 2011. Suggestions for additional trips will be accepted. It also will offer a chance to sign up for the two remaining 2010 trips -- a three-night stay at the Tides Resort in Irvington, Va., Oct. 17-20 for $395 per person; and the trip to Myanmar and Laos, Nov. 29-Dec. 13 for $4,955. Fall Membership Meeting, 6 pm Oct. 8
The autumn Club membership meeting is at 6 p.m. Friday, Oct., 8, in the Holeman Lounge. President Alan Bjerga and other officers will give reports on the Club's operations. The meeting will be webcast to ensure access for non-resident members and others who cannot attend in person. The time has been changed to 6 p.m. instead of noon to accommodate members who work during the day and are unable to take a break midday.
