Ribbon Cut at Remodeled Reliable Source
NPC Vice President Mark Hamrick cut the ribbon Sept. 27 at the remodeled kitchen of the Reliable Source, accompanied by board members and officers of the Club. The new kitchen has an open design and is equipped to offer a variety of menu items not previously available, including pizza and panini. NPC President Bjerga Has Day Job, Too
At the 71 percent point in his term, our president, Alan Bjerga, is also managing to do a very respectable job at journalism -- in addition to his other duties. The Bloomberg agriculture reporter recently has found his way into print at BusinessWeek (now owned by Bloomberg). In between hosting NPC luncheons, filing wire accounts for Bloomberg and producing good vibes around the Club, Bjerga has managed to pen three BW stories in the last two months. Jazz Trio at Housewarming for Remodeled Reliable Source, 7 pm Sept. 30

Hungarian Embassy Concert, Buffet Dinner Jan. 26; $60
NPC members receive a $15 discount off the cost of an all-Liszt concert and buffet/wine reception at the Embassy of Hungary at 7:30 p.m. Wednesday, Jan. 26, 2011. Peggy Roberson Dies; Visitation Oct. 1
Peggy Roberson, a longtime Washington reporter for newspapers in Texas and Alabama, died Sept. 22 at age 80 after a long illness. Ms. Roberson was an active member of the National Press Club, formerly serving on the Freedom of the Press and Speaekrs committees. A native of Cheyenne, Okla., she attended Abilene Christian University in Abilene, Texas, before starting a journalism career on the Elk City Daily News (Oklahoma). She also worked for the Portales News-Tribune (New Mexico) and the Amarillo Daily News (Texas). She became an award-winning reporter at the Birmingham News, where she began…

Indianapolis Club Added to Reciprocal List
The Board of Governors has approved the Columbia Club of Indianapolis as a reciprocal club. The Columbia Club is in the heart of Indianapolis on Monument Circle and within easy walking distance of Lucas Oil Stadium and the statehouse. Established in 1889, its clubhouse is listed on the National Register of Historic Places.
