American Legion gives Club permanent Post, 1923
This Week In National Press Club History September 1, 1923: The American Legion issues a permanent charter to the National Press Club, known as the American Legion Post 20. One of the early members of the Post was Gen. John J. Pershing, commander of the American Expeditionary Force in World War I and an associate Club member whose name was listed on the Club’s roles in 1920 and 1924. Gallo play to be performed at Kennedy Center
Anthony Gallo's play, "The Botticelli Cruise," will be performed at the Kennedy Center's Page-to-Stage Festival Saturday, Sept. 1 at 1 p.m. in the Terrace Theater. Admission is free. Your spouse or domestic partner can be a member of the National Press Club for $10 a month. The Spouse/Partner membership includes nearly all the same privileges offered to all the other categories of membership including use of both restaurants, the fitness center, the library and the business center. Flu shot clinic Oct. 10
The National Press Club Fitness Center is sponsoring the annual flu shot clinic Wednesday, Oct. 10, from 10 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. The shots will be administered by INOVA Health Services and the cost is $25 per person. Club to offer dues assistance to members facing financial challenges
The Fellowship Committee and Board of Governors have established a program to assist members who are out of work or having financial challenges pay their membership dues. President Theresa Werner said “a big thanks to new Fellowship Chair Arthur Wiese and his team for coming up with a smart and innovative program that will provide six months and in some cases a year of dues assistance to members while they get back on sound financial footing.
