Member Benefit Reminder: Free Luncheon Transcripts for Members
Did you know that National Press Club members have free access to Club luncheon transcripts? All luncheon written transcripts are available to view within 24 hours of each event. The transcripts are located under the Membership tab at press.org. In addition, video and/or audio links are available for select luncheons. The transcripts available for member viewing are archived online to January 2006. Members are required to be logged into the ‘member only’ section to view the material. Time Running Out To Reserve for the Oct. 27 Silver Owl Hoot
Time is beginning to run short for making reservations to attend the upcoming Owls' hoot at the National Press Club at noon on Saturday, Oct. 27 in the Holeman Lounge and Ballroom. Members Approve a $1 a Month Dues Increase
A $1-a-month increase in dues was approved by National Press Club members at a general membership meeting Oct. 5. The increase applies to all categories except students, spouses, partners, widows and those in the “inactive” category. During discussion, Club Treasurer Myron Belkind explained that the club still has $400,000 of long-term debt to pay down, business operations have been uneven, with a sharp falloff in the number of press conferences held at the Club, and that profits have been declining for the past three years. Legendary rock star Roger Daltrey will discuss the UCLA Daltrey/Townshend Teen & Young Adult Cancer Program, which serves teenagers and young adults with cancer.
