Club member John McCormick relaunching science fiction magazine
Club member John McCormick, former Newsbytes News Network bureau chief and Government Computer News columnist, is helping to relaunch Perihelion, a science/science fiction magazine from 40 years ago. McCormick is an adviser to the publisher and a writer for the publication. Perihelionsf.com features science fiction stories, science features from scientists and engineers, and graphic novels. The site is free. Perihelion is looking for freelance contributors to submit articles, stories and reviewss. Details are on the site under "submissions." The publisher pays in advance of publication.

Club member Simeon Booker writes book on his 65 years as a journalist
Club member Simeon Booker's book on his 65 years as a journalist, "Shocking the Conscience: A Reporter's Account of the Civil Rights Movement," is now available as an e-book. The hard copy will be published in April. Booker spent more than 50 years as Jet/Ebony's Washington bureau chief and White House correspondent, covering 10 U.S. presidents. He and his wife Carol McCabe Booker began writing the book after he retired at age 88 in 2007.

Dec. 15, 1921: President Warren G. Harding, the only U.S. president to be qualified to join the Club in what is now the Journalist category, casts his vote in the 13th election of officers. While in the White House, Harding, a former publisher of the Marion (Ohio) Star, voted in other Club elections, attended Club events, and played poker with reporters on at least one occasion.
