The NPC Broadcast Committee meets for the first time this year under returning Chairman Mark Hamrick on Thursday, Feb. 7 at 12:15 p.m. in the McClendon Room of the Reliable Source. Morgan art exhibit opens Friday at Church of the Pilgrims
Member Carol Morgan's art show opens Friday, Feb. 1 with a reception from 6 p.m. to 9 p.m. in the Bird Room at Church of the Pilgrims, 22nd & P, near Dupont Circle. Morgan's exhibit includes more than 20 works of art, including sculpture, painting and drawing, in keeping with the show's theme, "Events." It shows Morgan's belief that a photograph is a representation but a drawing is an event. The drawings have been at events around town, such as the George Washington jam sessions, the Jewish Community Center Theater and the Downtown Boxing Gym. The show run through March 31. For more…

Internet privacy expert to speak on Instagram controversy at Photo Committee lunch meeting Wednesday, Jan. 30
Marc Rotenberg, co-founder and executive director of the Electronic Privacy Information Center (EPIC), will speak about on privacy issues affecting photography on the Internet at a lunch meeting of the Club's Photography Committee at noon Wednesday in the McClendon Room. Rotenberg’s talk is titled, "Photography, Privacy, and the Internet.” All Club members and their guests are welcome. No reservations are required. This Week in Press Club History: "Red Beans and Rice-ly Yours"
Jan. 29, 1971: Louis Armstrong, the world’s greatest jazz trumpeter, is the featured performer at the inauguration of National Press Club President Vernon Louviere, a fellow Louisianan. Five months later, Armstrong, 69, is dead. A recording of his historic 20-minute performance, believed to be his last, is not made available to the general public for another 41 years.
