National Press Club member Carol Morgan's watercolor, "Lisa R.," is being displayed in the Washington Water Color Association's spring art reception at the Woman's National Democratic Club at 1526 New Hampshire Ave. N.W. National Press Club member Cemil 'Jim' Alyanak is organizing a major dance night at 6 p.m. April 6 at American University's Bender Arena to raise awareness for the American Childhood Cancer Organization. The Club's Eric Friedheim National Journalism Library will offer a free training session on Wednesday, March 27, on use of one its resources available to NPC members: access to CQ.com. The one-hour session, starting at 9:30 a.m in the Bloomberg Room, will be conducted by Kristina Salvey, a CQ staffer. Salvey will show attendees how to navigate and access the different sections of site, an invaluable aid to journalists covering Congress, to get the information they need to keep up to date on what's happening on Capitol Hill. This Week in National Press Club History: First women members sworn in
MARCH 3, 1971: Twenty-four women are sworn in as the first female members of the National Press Club, after a historic January vote in favor of their admission, 227 to 56. Forty-two Januarys later, Angela Greiling Keane is inaugurated as the 11th woman elected president of the Club.
