Club members to tour Washington Post newsroom
The Events Committee has scheduled a tour of the new Washington Post newsroom for NPC Members only. The tour will take place on Thursday, Jan. 21 from 3:30 p.m. to 4:30 p.m. Participants will tour the newsroom from 3:30 p.m. to 4:00 p.m. and then attend the story conference meeting that will demonstrate the Post’s digital responsiveness. There is no cost for the tour, but it is limited to a maximum of 20 people, and registration is first come – first served. Those interested may register here.

Judging opportunity for Press Club members

As National Press Club Broadcast Committee member Amy Henderson sees it, an historian mounting exhibits in a gallery is offering "scholarship with some sizzle." And that she did during her career as curator at the Smithsonian's National Portrait Gallery. Continuing a new tradition of the Broadcast Committee, Henderson offered at a committee meeting on Thursday, Jan. 7, a brief precis of her career at the Gallery, from which she recently retired. Taco Night Change in Pricing Effective Friday
Notice to Club members: National Press Club members and their fewer than five guests who purchase two drinks per person enjoy the Friday taco bar in the Reliable Source Pub for no additional charge. Effective this Friday, Jan. 15 the price of the taco bar will be $8 for members and guests who do not purchase two drinks per person. The $8 charge also applies for a group of more than five guests, no matter how many drinks each person orders in the McClendon Room, Games Room or Mezzanine. NPC Management

Celebrate Bartender Richard McClary's Retirement Wednesday Jan. 13 at 3:30 p.m.
All National Press Club members are invited to a cake cutting ceremony Wednesday, Jan. 13, to help celebrate (many will say mourn) the retirement of Richard McClary, the Club's long serving bartender. The event will take place at 3:30 p.m. in the First Amendment Lounge. Richard served drinks at the Press Club for 49 years, becoming the longest tenured employee in Club history. Richard, who officially retired at the end of last year, will be joined by his wife, Loraine, other family members, and many friends at his retirement party.
