Club's American Legion post to hear about Eisenhower memorial, noon June 6
Top officials of the Dwight D. Eisenhower Memorial Commission will discuss plans for the tribute to the 34th U.S. president at a noon meeting of American Legion Post 20 in the McClendon Room on Monday, June 6. Commission Executive Director Carl Reddel and Deputy Executive Director Victoria Tigwell also will show a documentary on the memorial at the meeting, which will be held on the 72nd anniversary of D-Day. The taping starts at 8:30 a.m. There is no cost to attend, but there is a maximum of 20 Club members and registration is on a first come-first served basis. Club Treasurer: Best April ever
While the year started out slow for revenue, this April was the best April the National Press Club has ever had according to Treasurer Andrea Snyder. During a general membership meeting on Friday, May 20, Snyder presented the Club's financial state and outlook. She noted revenues slowed in the first quarter largely due to exceptionally bad winter weather that led many patrons to cancel or reschedule events. But that is all changing. Radio has always been FUN for Club member Camille Bohannon
National Press Club Broadcast Committee member Camille Bohannon lived in eight countries before she was 18-years-old and mastered four languages. When it came time for college, she landed in Las Vegas, N.M., (near Santa Fe), where she worked at the local cable TV operation and radio station KFUN. In a community steeped in Hispanic heritage, those call letters equaled "Que-FUN" which translated to "What Fun!" and, that's what Camille thought about broadcasting. What fun! Toastmasters International meets Monday, May 23
You are warmly invited to attend the Press Club’s Toastmasters’ public speaking group. Twice a month we meet at the Press Club to develop public speaking and leadership skills in a fun and friendly environment. Come and join us on Monday from 7 p.m. to 8:30pm in the McClendon Room.
