Carol Morgan invites the members of the National Press Club to attend the 47th annual Glen Echo Labor Day art show which opens this Friday, Sept. 2, from 7 p.m. to 9 p.m. in the Spanish Ballroom at Glen Echo Park, 7300 MacArthur Blvd., Glen Echo, Maryland. Carol exhibits three figurative terra cotta sculptures, along with works of hundreds of other artists in ceramics, jewelry, painting, collage and fiber. August may be considered the “quietest” month of the year in the Nation’s Capital, but the National Press Club’s Truman Lounge was abuzz on Aug. 11 with a special Pub Quiz trivia night featuring representatives from the National Woman’s Party at the Belmont-Paul Women’s Equality National Monument. Celebrate the Club's photographic talent at Tuesday, Sept. 6 reception
The National Press Club's 17th annual Members' Photo Exhibit kicks off officially on Tuesday, Sept. 6 with a reception for exhibitors and guests in the First Amendment Lounge, 6:30 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. All NPC members are invited to take part. The exhibit itself, a celebration of members' photographic talent, will remain on display through Sept. 30 in the Club's 13th floor lobby. Memorial Service set for Saturday, Sept. 17 for former NPC President Wiese
The National Press Club will honor former President Arthur E.F. Wiese Jr. at a Memorial Service at 11 a.m. Saturday, Sept. 17. Wiese, who served as club president in 1979, also chaired the New Club Committee that redesigned the Club in the early 1980s when the Press Building was undergoing a full renovation. Though Wiese had a full committee of members, he did almost all of the work himself, working with architects and designers. The appearance of the club today mostly reflects his efforts. Apply now for National Press Foundation awards
Journalism awards offered through the National Press Foundation are open for entries. The awards carry prizes ranging from $2,500 to $5,000. Categories include digital innovation, cartooning, reporting on the federal government’s impact on local communities, and the Dirksen award for reporting on Congress.
