This year’s Earth Day will be marked on Monday, April 22, at the National Press Club with a Newsmaker event featuring one of the day’s original organizers, Denis Hayes. The first Earth Day, held April 22, 1970, drew 20 million Americans to streets, parks, and auditoriums to protest environmental degradation.
