Club awards first Lewis scholarship to aid journalism students of color
University of Missouri student Komlavi Adissem, winner of the inaugural NPC Lewis Scholarship. The National Press Club has chosen Komlavi Adissem of St. Louis, Mo., as the inaugural recipient of its Lewis Scholarship. The scholarship provides free housing and a monthly stipend to support student journalists of color who are interning at news media outlets in Washington, D.C. Global study shows online violence against female journalists increasing
A three-year study published by the International Center for Journalists showed online violence against female journalists reaching an all-time high. An encore presentation of Marty Bufalini’s “It’s a Wonderful Life: The Radio Show,” an adaptation of the classic story, will air on the National Press Club's website at 8 p.m. Wednesday. Dec. 21, and subsequently on demand. It also again will be offered by the CBS Radio Network to its 600-plus affiliates nationwide, and will be featured on the American Heritage website. The story revolves around George Bailey who, exasperated by life's challenges, wishes he'd never been born. Club closed Monday for Christmas Day observance
The National Press Club will be closed on Monday, Dec. 26, for the Christmas observance. Because Christmas Day occurs on Sunday this year, the federal holiday is observed the following day. The Club will resume normal operations on Tuesday, Dec. 27. The Wire will not publish again until Wednesday, Dec. 28. The Club wishes its members and employees a happy holiday.

Press Club to close Monday for New Year's observance
The National Press Club will be closed Monday, Jan. 2, the New Year's Day observance. That's because New Year's Day takes place on Sunday, when most workplaces normally are closed.
