Gun Rights Advocate to Speak at June 5 Newsmaker
Dick Heller, the litigant in District of Columbia v. Heller, the case in which the Supreme Court's Republican majority for the first time interpreted the Second Amendment as protecting an individual's right to bear arms, will appear at a Newsmakers event at 10 am Wednesday, June 5. Young Members Committee Features Voice of Pinky and Yakko
Rob Paulsen, the voice of Yakko Warner and Pinky, the mouse that wants to take over the world, will speak at the Club at 6:30 pm Aug. 1 at an event sponsored by the Young Members Committee. Paulsen will discuss his career and experiences, answer audience questions, and sign autographs. Paulsen has provided the voices for more than 250 characters over 30 years, including the aforementioned Warner brother and Pinky of ``Animaniacs'' fame. This Week in National Press Club History
May 29, 1941: General George C. Marshall, Army Chief of Staff, who would build and direct the largest army in history during World War II, gives his first address to the National Press Club. He would later become Secretary of State, then Secretary of Defense, and win the Nobel Peace Prize in 1953. Marshall had served as aide-de-camp to General John “Black Jack” Pershing during the First World War. Pershing later became an associate member of the National Press Club, and gave his name to the American Legion Post 20, formed at the Club by veterans of that war. It continues to this day. Many…

Line Up for Lobster Tonight
The Club's monthly lobster night is tonight, 5:30 pm to 8:30 pm at the Fourth Estate Restaurant. Members pay $25; non-members $30 for a steamed 1 ¼ pound Maine Lobster with coleslaw (or salad) and choice of French fries or oven-crisped new potatoes. A limited number of lobsters are available even if you haven't reserved; to check on them, call 202-662-7638. The regular Fourth Estate menu will be available for non-lobster lovers and desserts include chocolate and raspberry mousse, strawberry shortcake and sorbets from Moorenkos of Silver Spring.

"We Haz Jazz" in the Fourth Estate Restaurant
The Fourth Estate Restaurant's monthly Jazz Night takes place Wednesday, June 5. The event will be held in conjunction with Blues Alley in Georgetown. This month's event falls on the first night of the DC Jazz Festival and will feature members of the Blues Alley Youth Orchestra. Musicians are graduates of top music conservatories. Russ Ptacek, investigative reporter for WUSA Channel 9, will be the next speaker at Young Members Committee's "Piano Lessons." The event will take place beginning at 6:30 pm Wednesday, June 5, in the McClendon Room. Ptacek has won awards for his investigations and is a speaker at journalism conferences. May 29 is the last Wednesday of the month, and that means Lobster Night at the Fourth Estate Restaurant. Steamed 1 1/4-pound lobsters will be served from 5:30-8:30 pm, along with cole slaw or salad, and French fries or oven-crisped new potatoes. The cost is $25 for members and $30 for nonmembers. Cronkite's Grandson to Discuss Book of Anchorman's Letters from Europe
Walter Cronkite IV and historian Maurice Isserman will discuss and sign copies of their book, "Cronkite's War: His World War II Letters Home," at 6:30 pm June 4 at the Club. Panel Disagrees on Prospects for New Immigration Law
Members of a panel on immigration disagreed on prospects for legislation in 2013 at a May 20 event co-sponsored by the Club’s International Correspondents Committee and International Center for Journalism. Luis Miranda, former director of Hispanic media for President Barack Obama, said Congress would overhaul U.S. immigration laws.
