Club Freelance Committee Launches Searchable Listing of Members
Editors looking for freelance help now have a new resource at the National Press Club – a listing of NPC freelancers on the Club’s website. The searchable list is available to Club members and the general public. The NPC Freelance Committee compiled the list as a way to help connect editors with freelance needs to freelancers with the right skills, says Tam Harbert, chair of the Freelance Committee. “As the number of freelancers increases and as more and more media outlets use freelance rather than full-time help, we hope this list will be a useful resource for both,” she says. Tonight's the (last) night... for lobster at the Fourth Estate
The Fourth Estate restaurant at the National Press Club hosts its final Lobster Night of the summer season tonight, Wednesday, July 31 from 5:30 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. The menu features a steamed 1 1/4-pound Maine lobster with a choice of coleslaw or salad and a choice of French fries or oven-crisped new potatoes. Dinner costs $25 for members, $30 for non-members. Reservations are requested 24 hours in advance to assure a lobster, but a limited number of lobsters may be available for those who call today. Thomas R. Frieden, M.D., director of the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, will report on major health issues and challenges at a Tuesday, Sept. 10, National Press Club luncheon. CDC is charged with protecting public health and safety via the control and prevention of disease, injury and disability. Emmy Award-winning voice actor Rob Paulsen speaks at Club, 6:30 pm Aug. 1
Rob Paulsen, the voice of Yakko Warner and Pinky, the mouse who wants to take over the world, will speak at the National Press Club at 6:30 p.m. Aug. 1 at an event sponsored by the Young Members Committee.
