Amnesty International plans to release Afghanistan report at NPC, Friday, Feb. 24
The National Press Club's Newsmakers Committee plans to hold a news conference on Friday, Feb. 24 at 3 p.m. with Amnesty International. At the event, T. Kumar, director for international advocacy of Amnesty International USA, plans to release and discuss a report on Afghanistan, "Fleeing War, Finding Misery: The Plight of the Internally Displaced in Afghanistan." About a half-million people have fled the war, with children and women the worst affected, according to the report. In January, 28 children were found frozen to death in a camp in Kabul, the report says.
