Comedian/Documentarian Harry Shearer calls for better focus in journalism, March 14
Comedian and Documentary film maker Harry Shearer will critique the media's coverage of major events, including Hurricane Katrina, at a luncheon March 14 at a National Press Club. Best known for his iconic voice work on The Simpsons, Shearer is also a documentarian. His film The Big Uneasy focuses on the cause of the flooding after Hurricane Katrina. Based on the book by local author and historian, John Kiser, Of Gods and Men tells the true story of a group of French Cistercian Trappist monks caught up in the violence of Algeria’s civil war in the 1990s. The section of the NPC web site dedicated to recording Club actions pertaining to press freedom just got an upgrade.
