Two legends of television news will share the stage April 2 as Kalb Report host Marvin Kalb interviews PBS pioneer Jim Lehrer about his career contributions to journalism and the state of democratic discourse in today's digital society. The National Press Club's annual Journalism Contest is seeking the best international coverage, both in print/online and broadcast, with the Edwin M. Hood Award for Diplomatic Correspondence. Rock & roll photographer Tom Gundelfinger O'Neal will take the lens cap off rock & roll history as he shares the stories of his noted photo career at a program in the Club Ballroom from 7:30 p.m. to 9:30 p.m. on Wednesday, April 11. Prospects for democracy in Arab world to be topic of Tuesday Newsmaker at 10 a.m.
Radwan Masmoudi, president of the Washington, D.C.-based Center for the Study of Islam and Democracy, will speak at an National Press Club Newsmaker news conference Tuesday, March 20, on the topic, "Will Democracy Succeed in the Arab World?
