Americans might be still scrambling to get their taxes done today, but Internal Revenue Service Commissioner Douglas Shulman will address a National Press Club luncheon April 6 on what the tax system could look like in the future. Shulman, now in his third year of a five-year term, will outline his agenda in a speech entitled “On the Horizon: A Vision for the Future of Our Tax System.” The 47th IRS commissioner, Shulman is responsible for collecting $2.4 trillion in tax revenues. Debbie Smith, founder of Operation Exceptional Child/Afghanistan, will discuss how her efforts to build a school to help disabled children in that country will also benefit the U.S. war effort.
