Sign Up to be an NPC Mentor or Mentee; Applications Due April 15
Applications for participation in the 2010 National Press Club MentoringProgram are due Thursday, April 15. This is a one-year commitment aimed at benefiting members at all stages of their careers.The program is open to journalists and PR professionals. Once matches are made, mentors will be given a copy of the mentee'sapplication to the program. After meeting at a kick-off reception andbased on what the mentee said in the program application, mentors andmentees can mutually agree on how often they would like to have contactand under what circumstances. Books & Brunch Discussion on Darwin and Lincoln, Noon April 17
Books & Brunch group will discuss “Angels and Ages: A Short Book about Darwin, Lincoln, and Modern Life” by Adam Gopnik at noon, Saturday, April 17, in the Fourth Estate Restaurant. Books & Brunch is open to all NPC members and guests. Free parking is available in the PMI garage on G Street between 13th and 14th streets to those who order a meal and bring their PMI ticket to be stamped. The widow of the 2009 recipient of the NPC Freedom of the Press Award for an international journalist will receive the honor on behalf of her late husband at 6:30 p.m. Wednesday, April 21, in the Holeman Lounge. The presentation of the award will be followed by an interview conducted by Club member Marvin Kalb of Harvard’s Joan Shorenstein Center for Press, Politics and Public Policy.
