Oct. 3 Amish Trip RSVPs Due Friday
There are still some seats left for the day trip to Amish country in Lancaster, Pa., on Saturday, Oct. 3, but reservations need to be confirmed by Friday, Sept. 25. Arts Program Registration Due Oct. 30
Registration to enter artwork in the National Arts Program's 2009 program is due Oct. 30 by the close of business. Club members and employees and their families are eligible to participate. Prizes will be awarded for the three adult classifications of amateur, intermediate and professional as well as the two youth/teen classifications of under 12 and 13-18. The cash prizes for each adult classification range from $300 to $100, and from $75 to $25 in the youth/teen categories. Author Maniza Naqvi will attend the Saturday, Oct. 17, Books & Brunch meeting to discuss her fourth novel, "A Matter of Detail," at noon in the Fourth Estate restaurant. An array of gently used fiction and non-fiction -- hardback and paperback -- will be on sale from 9 a.m. to 7:30 p.m. Friday, Oct. 2, in the Bloomberg Training Center on the 13th floor. Members of the public are admitted at 10:30 a.m. Member prices are $2.50 for a hardcover book and $1 per paperback. Non-members will be charged $5 hardcover/$2 paperback.
