Spend election night at the National Press Club
The Club will host an election night party Tuesday, Nov. 6, for members and guests only in the Truman Lounge and for all in the First Amendment Lounge and the Bloomberg Room. The cost will be $10 for members and $15 for non-members. Hors d'oeuvres will be served at both sites and there will be a cash bar in the First Amendment Lounge, which opens at 6:30 p.m. Members can order drinks and food in the Truman Lounge. Register here.

South African night to honor Nelson Mandela legacy, Tuesday, Oct. 30
A South African Night will highlight the "Life, Legacy and Values of Nelson Mandela" from 6:30 p.m. to 8:30 p.m., Tuesday Oct. 30, in the Ballroom, under the auspices of the International Correspondents Committee. The event will feature remarks honoring Mandela, a panel discussion on his legacy followed by a Q and A session and a tasting of South African wines and dishes including biltong, boerewors, sosaties and samosas. Panel to address online security for journalists Wednesday
The Press Freedom Committee will host a panel on journalists' online security Wednesday, Oct. 24, from 6:30 p.m. to 8 p.m. There are concerns about U.S. government efforts to identify reporters' confidential sources, particularly in cases involving classified information. But foreign governments and criminal organizations may also represent threats. A longer term threat is that loss of confidence in journalists' online security could deter potential whistle blowers from providing information to news media. Debate watch party tonight
Join us to watch the last presidential debate before the November election from 9 p.m. to 10:30 p.m. on Monday, Oct. 22, for members only in the Truman Lounge and in the First Amendment Lounge, where the event will be open to the public. What did the pre-election polls get right and where did they go wrong? Two days after the election, from 10 a.m. until noon on Nov. 8, a panel of polling experts will sit down at the National Press Club Journalism Institute's Bloomberg Classroom to discuss the numbers. Supermodel Christy Turlington Burns and the Boston Women’s Health Book Collective will appear at a Newsmaker press conference 1 p.m. Monday to launch an initiative to send every member of Congress a copy of the landmark book, "Our Bodies, Our Selves."
